Lindsay, CA Real Estate

Lindsay began with orange trees. Nicknamed “Central California’s Citrus Center,” the oranges planted by the city’s first residents quickly blossomed; job opportunities and population growth were fostered by the availability of jobs necessary to care for orange and olive crops. The World’s Largest Olive sits proudly outside of the Olive Tree Inn, a token of the deep agricultural roots the city maintains.

Murals decorate various walls throughout the city. Organized by community artists, Lindsay’s mural committee arranged for many of the new murals. Newer murals focused on individuals, or geographic themes add to the historical and aesthetic value of older murals that depict things like soap advertisements. While the mural effort began an untold number of years ago, the most recent murals were painted duing the years from 1997 to 2008.

Just about the time a drive through Lindsay would yield an array of blossom covered trees, Lindsay hosts the annual Orange Blossom Festival. It begins with a scrumptious pancake breakfast. It is followed by a parade and ends with a festival, dance and carnival. Locals look forward to the event every year.

In 1995, the city was unanimously chosen as an All American City for its downtown and retail development efforts. The city’s focus on developing programs for healthy children has also been highly praised. In 1987, the city was bestowed the honor of being a California Main Street City, for the efforts the city has taken to bring together the community, offer beautiful design and promote the community. The city recently announced a continued commitment to the McDermot Field House and Sports Center, a structure designed to house a myriad of family friendly activities like concerts and events, sports and video game tournaments, and a myriad of other acitivities.

Under the shade of palm trees, colorful canopies indicate the beginning of Friday Night Markets, a small gathering of farmers and community members. Locals gather to buy and sell produce and other treats.

Lindsay Unified School District serves the roughly 4,000 children in the area; the school district has taken significant steps to ensure that the school has as strategic plan capable addressing the needs of the community.

Housing prices continue to be some of the lowest in the state; executive homes are scattered around the outside of the city, but a wide array of housing options exist within the limits of the small town as well.

Lindsay’s efforts to ensure the existence of safe, family-friendly activities and resources for the community are commendable. Economic development in the area has increased, in big part due to the efforts of Lindsay residents and their elected officials.
